Vintage Jerusalem 5 Cross Brooch Marked Silver - Gorgeous Handmade Detail
This beauty shows a Jerusalem cross, also known as a Crusader's cross. The Jerusalem cross is a heraldic cross and was the emblem of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which existed from 1099 to 1291.
The cross is composed of five crosses: a large central cross and four smaller crosses in each quadrant.
The five crosses are often interpreted as symbolizing the five wounds of Christ. The large cross represents the wound from the spear, while the four smaller crosses represent the wounds on his hands and feet.
