Larimar is a rare, blue variety of the mineral pectolite, found only in the Dominican Republic, known for its ocean-like colors and wave patterns, named after "Larissa" (daughter's name) and "mar" (Spanish for sea). This semi-precious gemstone forms in volcanic cavities, and its unique blue hues come from copper, making each piece distinct with swirls of white, light blue, turquoise, or deep indigo. It's popular in jewelry for its Caribbean aesthetic but is softer than turquoise and should be protected from prolonged sunlight.
