Denby hand made Tyrolean ware bowl, designed by Alice Teichner from the 1930's.
In excellent condition with no damage, chips or repairs
Back stamp "Denby AT W.T.L.&S. 1937",
This style of bowl is featured in the "Denby Stonewares" reference book by Graham and Alva Key, page 107 & 68.
(Not counting handles) Appx. 9 1/4" diameter, 11 1/2" across the handles, 3 1/2" Tall

Austrian Ceramics designer Alice Teichner arrived in England in 1936 and started designing for Denby.
Alice Teichner's Tyrolean Ware included jugs, bowls and vases, all had heavy applied swirling, oversized decoration.
Finished mostly in gold and brown glaze her designs were way ahead of there time.
Not long after the outbreak of World War II, She left for Canada.

A rare and interesting piece of art deco from a great innovator in ceramics.
