Among the B-15 series, the striking blue nylon shell is due to the U.S. Air Force, founded in 1947, strongly emphasizing its independence from the Army's forces and replacing most uniforms with its own color, AF blue.
Apart from the color, minor changes were made from the B-15 supplied until just before, evolving into specifications that increased durability while reducing production costs.
The method of sandwiching excellent wool pile with a strong nylon shell is similar to the later MA-1.
