St. George is a universal symbol of good
triumphing over evil, in this charm he is
depicted heroically astride his white horse,
vanquishing the green dragon
below. The pendent is designed to be
viewed from both sides. This 3-dimensional
scene is brought to life with bold enamel in
shades of white, blue, red, and green on silver.
The intricate detailing on the figures shows
the quality of Austro-Hungarian workshops
circa 1860-1910. Originally 2 chains with
seed pearls held St George but one chain
is missing and the pearl dangled down
from the bottom loop is also missing.
Loops are strong and this piece is
in very, very good condition. No other
issues. St George measures 1 1/4"
high and 5/8" wide. The chain with seed
pearls is 1" long. A lovely gift even to
