1870-1880 German Cabinet Card Lot

Two original German cabinet card photographs by Emil Bühler, Hof-Photograph, Mannheim. One card depicts a formally dressed woman posed beside an upholstered studio chair; the second shows a couple standing together, the woman resting her hand on the man’s arm. Both images are albumen prints mounted on original cards with Emil Bühler studio imprints. The reverse designs differ: one features a red-toned typographic back with address “Ludwigs-Strasse No. 29, am Schlossgarten,” while the other shows an elaborate medal and crest design noting photographic awards (Brussels 1875, Karlsruhe 1877). Period attire, studio props, and mounting style place these firmly in the late 1870s–1880s. Condition consistent with age: light toning, edge wear, small corner losses, and surface spotting; images remain clear with strong detail. Matched studio origin makes this an excellent paired offering for collectors of 19th-century European photography, German cabinet cards, or Mannheim photographic history.
